Certificate in Health Informatics

The Health Informatics Certificate is 100% online and will introduce you to the core competencies of the health informatics profession. This program focuses on the application of computers to generate, validate, secure and integrate healthcare data so it can be effectively used to support the decision-making activities of clinical and administrative professionals.

This distance-learning program can be completed in three semesters or less. The courses that comprise this certificate program may also be applied to the department’s master’s degree program.

Tuition: $680/credit*

* Tuition rates are for the 2024-25 academic year. Additional fees and costs for course materials may apply. Total program cost and completion time varies depending on transfer credits and individual program plans. Tuition rates are subject to change. View 2023-24 rates

Program Outcomes

The reporting period for these outcomes is Aug. 1, 2022-July 31, 2023.

  • 100% of MS in Health Informatics graduates responding to the graduate survey are employed within one year of graduation*
  • 100% retention rate overall for MS in Health Informatics students
  • 100% of graduates report they are satisfied with the MS Health Informatics program**
  • 68% of those that apply to the MS in Health Informatics program are accepted

* For the graduate data, a graduate survey is sent out to all graduates 1 year after a student confers their degree. During this reporting period, there were 17 graduates contacted of which 5 responded to the survey. Of those, 5 were employed full-time within one year of graduation.

** For the graduate satisfaction survey, 7 of the 17 graduates responded to the survey. When asked “How satisfied were you with the MS Health Informatics program?”, 4 responded as Extremely satisfied and 3 responded as Somewhat satisfied.

Accreditation

CAHIIM Accredited Program logoThe Health Informatics and Information Management accreditor of The College of St. Scholastica is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Application Deadlines

Early submission is encouraged; applications are reviewed as they are completed. Applications completed after the following deadlines will be submitted for the subsequent term.

Summer: April 21

Eligibility

New Students
  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0
Note: Meeting minimum entrance requirements does not guarantee admission.
Returning Students

A returning student is a student who was admitted and enrolled in a program at St. Scholastica but has been absent from the program for at least three continuous semesters, including summer. To return to the same program at St. Scholastica, a returning student must be in good academic standing and must apply for readmission to the College.
