University athletes compete for the USA in the World University Games
The College of St. Scholastica proudly sends two of its talented athletes to represent the United States in the 2025 Winter World University Games, set to take place in Italy from Monday, Jan. 13, to Thursday, Jan. 23. Biathlete Audrey Lahammer ’27 and mixed curling competitor Sara Olson ’24 are among the more than 120 American collegiate athletes selected by UniUSA, the governing body for international university sports in the United States.
Organized by UniUSA, the Games will welcome over 3,000 competitors from nearly 50 countries. Dan Guerrero, president of UniUSA, expressed his enthusiasm and support: “We wish the USA team the best of luck. Colleges and universities in the United States are competition grounds for athletes from around the world, so we know how competitive these Games will be.”
The 2025 Winter World University Games will showcase 11 sports held across 6 municipalities in Italy’s Piemonte region. Pragelato will host Lahammer’s biathlon event, while Olson’s curling competition will be held in Torino. Events will include alpine skiing, snowboarding, freestyle, cross-country skiing, biathlon and curling, all highlighting the skills and dedication of student-athletes like those from St. Scholastica.
