Three musical events to be hosted in St. Scholastica’s Mitchell Auditorium

Live, in-person entertainment has returned to The College of St. Scholastica’s Mitchell Auditorium. Join the College in celebrating music in all its forms with three exciting, eclectic performances during the month of November.

A Deal with the Devil, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Inspired in large part by Goethe’s Faust, European musicians from the nineteenth century onward exhibit a growing fascination with what it means to encounter the devil. In this solo piano recital, St. Scholastica faculty member Nicholas Susi performs music that revels in the darker side of the good versus evil narrative. General admission tickets are $10; free admission for students and Sisters of the St. Scholastica Monastery.

Les Larmes, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. The works of Johannes Fresneau were recently discovered by Dutch Scholar Jan Burgers. Until now, there had been no surviving Dutch Baroque lute music. Both sublime and beautiful, this unique music represents a new composer and genre. General admission tickets are $10; free admission for students and Sisters of the St. Scholastica Monastery. The Latin Tinge, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. The St. Scholastica Jazz and Steel Bands celebrate the enormous importance of Latin influences in all kinds of U.S. popular music. “Tinge” is certainly an understatement, as most of us do not realize how genres like Calypso and Salsa continue to permeate and enliven American culture.
