Photos: Preparations underway for Thanksgiving Day Buffet
Preparations are well underway for the 35th annual Twin Ports Region Thanksgiving Day Buffet, which will take place at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center on Thanksgiving Day. This community event has mobilized over 700 volunteers, who are working tirelessly to prepare more than 6,000 meals and deliver approximately 1,200 homecooked dinners during the week of Thanksgiving.
The meals are fully cooked and packaged in individual serving containers, ready for delivery to families in Duluth, Superior, Hermantown, Esko, Cloquet and Two Harbors. Food preparation kicked off on Friday, Nov. 22, and will continue through Wednesday, Nov. 27.
“It’s a very large operation. But it’s done with a lot of love, and we have a lot of fun. There’s a lot of laughter happening today,” event organizer Monica Hendrickson said of the preparations in an MPR News podcast.
This generous initiative is made possible by The College of St. Scholastica, alongside numerous donors and community supporters, who ensure that this meal remains free for those in need. For captivating photos capturing the essence of this heartwarming preparation, visit the Duluth News Tribune.
