International thought leaders

Leah Prussia, assistant professor of Social Work, has been appointed as an at-large member of the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Commission for Diversity and Social and Economic Justice.

The CSWE is the national accrediting body of Social Work. The Commission promotes the integration of knowledge of how the multiple aspects of human diversity intersect in social work education, and serves in an advisory capacity to the Center for Diversity and Social and Economic Justice.

Prussia joins Connie Gunderson, associate professor of Social Work, as a leading advocate for the field. Since last year, Gunderson has served on the CSWE’s Commission on Global Social Work Education, which works to develop the international dimension of social work curricula.

Carin Mizera, assistant professor of Social Work, serves on the CSWE’s Trauma Competency Task Force. Her work helped contribute to an updated version of the Specialized Practice Curricular Guide for Trauma-Informed Social Work Practice.
