Feast of St. Scholastica Returns to St. Scholastica

Members of the community are invited to participate in the festivities of the Feast of St. Scholastica on Thursday, Feb. 10. The feast day features two events for the community; a virtual panel of St. Scholastica alumni and a Catholic mass, in person, with Fr. John Petrich in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel on the Duluth Campus.

The first panelist is Malvern Madondo ’19, who graduated with a double major in math and computer science/info-systems. He is currently pursuing a PhD in computer science at Emory University, where he conducts research at the intersection of reinforcement learning and optimal control, with applications in computational neuroscience. Madondo is from Harare, Zimbabwe, and enjoys all things food and outdoors.

Josh Robak ’17 spent his college years playing on the men’s soccer team and appreciating Duluth’s access to outdoor adventure. He is now a fourth-year medical student at the University of North Dakota applying to psychiatry residency. Robak and his spouse are both St. Scholastica graduates and still love visiting Duluth, where they enjoyed immense learning and growth.

Nafisa Osman ’17 graduated with a degree in marketing and a minor in management. Osman is currently a homeownership advisor at Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. She enjoys travel, good food and binge-watching tv shows.

This virtual panel will be held at noon on Feb. 10 via Zoom. The in-person mass will be held in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at 4:30 p.m. and is open to the public. The typical “Feast” held in the Greenview Dining Room has been canceled for the safety of the public.
