MN TRIO Adult Leadership Symposium

More than 175 college students from across Minnesota will attend a leadership symposium hosted by The College of St. Scholastica from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29.

The MN TRIO Adult Leadership Symposium will feature networking events, guest speakers, workshops, and a sustainability fair for TRIO students and staff. Participants will have the opportunity to build connections with peers and educational partners, develop leadership skills, and learn about the importance of resilience.

TRIO is an umbrella of federally-funded programs that provide students from marginalized and underrepresented backgrounds with a pathway of educational access and success from middle school to college and graduate school.

Registration will take place from 8 to 9 a.m. in the Mitchell Auditorium Foyer, followed by an opening session from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in the Mitchell Auditorium.

At 11 a.m. in the Mitchell Auditorium, Nikki Crowe, Thirteen Moons Program Coordinator at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, will deliver a keynote address. She’ll speak about the topics of personal and community resilience while weaving in ecological themes. Thirteen Moons is a tribal college extension program with a goal of increasing awareness of natural resources, providing new opportunities for social interaction, and increasing knowledge of the Ojibwe culture. Thirteen Moons supports outreach programs to increase food and agricultural literacy.

The rest of the day’s agenda includes breakout sessions and a group closing session from 3:10 to 3:30 p.m. in the Mitchell Auditorium.

The symposium is being organized by MN TRIO, a state association of educational access and success professionals, in collaboration with the Sustainability TREE (Teaching Responsibility and Education for Engagement), an initiative of The College of St. Scholastica.
