The 15th annual Homecoming weekend at The College of St. Scholastica will take place from Friday, Oct. 4, to Sunday, Oct. 6. The first weekend in October features a series of athletic competitions, alumni gatherings and talent showcases.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Saints alumni, families, students and friends to all of our Homecoming events on campus and in the community,” said Andy Larson, director of Alumni Engagement. “It truly is a Saints community celebration.”

Athletic competitions

Two smiling individuals at Homecoming.With the fall athletic schedules in full swing, several football, soccer and volleyball matches are scheduled. Notably, the Saints will take on the Scots of Macalester College on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Marv Heikkinen Field of Walt Hunting Stadium in Duluth, MN for the football game.

Prior to the 1 p.m. game, the entire Saints community is invited to the Homecoming Hangout at the Student Center from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be outdoor games, hot dogs, Saints swag and more for current students and alumni alike.

Alumni gatherings

The Alumni Social immediately follows the Homecoming football game. All alumni and their families, as well as parents of current students, are invited to The Bridge Cocktail Room (located inside Hoops Brewing in Canal Park) from 3 to 6 p.m. The Alumni Association will provide appetizers, and The Bridge will create a one-of-a-kind Saints cocktail available for purchase. Non-alcoholic options, including free samples of Uffda Kombucha, will also be available.

“We are proud to partner with alumni entrepreneurs during our pre-game Homecoming Hangout and post-game Alumni Social,” noted Larson. The Bridge Cocktail Room is owned by Jeffrey Zervas ’13, and Uffda Kombucha is owned by Colin Zervas ’12.

On Saturday evening, the College will induct its 13th class into the Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the Homecoming festivities. This event celebrates the excellence and contributions of past student-athletes and coaches. The event begins with a 6:30 p.m. social hour and formal program at 7:30 p.m. in the Mitchell Auditorium. Registration is required.

On Sunday morning, the first-ever St. Scholastica Alumni Pickleball Tournament will be held in the Field House inside Burns Wellness Center at 10 a.m. The tournament is presented by the CSS Pickleball Club, Alumni Engagement and Student Activities. Registration is required.

Talent showcases

Six student participants of the Student Talentshow.Other festivities include the Student Talent Show on Friday, Oct. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Mitchell Auditorium. President Barbara McDonald will present the Young Alumni Achievement Award during the event.

The St. Scholastica Music Program will also present its Prism Concert, a free performance featuring the College’s instrumental and choral ensembles, on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. in the Mitchell Auditorium.
