Saints’ improv club takes the stage
Fans of Whose Line is it Anyway? will love St. Scholastica Theatre’s Improv with the Saints, four unique performances to be held in the College’s Little Theatre on April 21, 22, 23 and 24. Each night, student actors from the Improv Club will create a new show which will also feature suggestions from the audience.
The inspiration for the event came after the success of last year’s Student Spring Spectacular. “Coming out of COVID, we wanted to do three shows but not put too much stress on both the budget and our students,” said director Sharon Obst. “Closing the season with an improv show meets both of those goals.”
Five students, one alum and one dog will take to the stage at 7:30 p.m. on April 21, 22 and 23 and 2 p.m. on April 24. An ASL interpreted performance will be offered on April 21.
“Anyone can learn improv, we all do it in our everyday lives, but learning to perform it on stage is another skill altogether,” said Obst. “The group that we have is working to create the trust bonds necessary for a great show. Come more than once; we make it up every night so it’s like a brand new show.”
