Public invited to attend Vespers service and campus lighting events
The College of St. Scholastica’s annual Advent Vespers and Lighting a Tradition events return to an in-person format on Tuesday, Nov. 30. Both are free and open to the public.
Vespers service begins at 4:30 p.m. in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel. All are welcome to attend this service as the College celebrates the start of the Advent season with stories and songs. Immediately following, community members are invited to participate in the annual tree lighting ceremony on the front steps of Tower Hall.
The 26th annual Lighting a Tradition event begins at 5:15 p.m. and will include remarks from President Barbara McDonald and Student Government Association President Jaci Tourtellott, tree lighting, Christmas carols and free cookies and hot cocoa. Members of the media should be advised that the actual lighting will take place between 5:20-5:30 p.m.
“This year’s event will be a truly special one, unlike any other lighting ceremony we’ve had,” said Lisa Roseth, executive director of alumni engagement. “We look forward to bringing together our community in hope and excitement for the Christmas season.”
Please note, face masks are required in all indoor spaces at The College of St. Scholastica. For more information about our health and safety guidelines, visit the SaintsRiseUp Safe Return website.
