Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that provides that:
“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”
Essentially, Title IX is about reducing and removing barriers to the educational experience based on sex and gender discrimination. Title IX includes equity in sports and educational programs as well as comprehensive sexual misconduct policies.
Victim/Survivors have multiple options for reporting and receiving support both on and off campus.
If you are unsure about reporting or the implications of the different ways of reporting sexual assault or other forms of sexual or gender-based discrimination you may speak with a member of the GEVA Team. GEVAs can help you clarify your option and decide if you want to report to the College. GEVAs provide information and support resources as semi-confidential resources for students, staff and faculty.
You may make a report utilizing the Online Report Form link. Additionally you may access the report form on the COR page under the student, staff, and faculty tab in the SaintsStepIn box. Students may submit an anonymous report via the online reporting form. All faculty and staff must report the identifying information and details disclosed to them. Only counselors and student health services staff are fully confidential resources.
Reporting to Title IX or any employee of the College enables the College Title IX office to respond and offer you the support and interim measures such as no contact orders, changes in your housing and course schedules, counseling and other adjustments as reasonably available. Interim support measure are available whether or not you file a complaint. You do not need to file a complaint or identify the person alleged responsible for the sexual misconduct to Title IX to receive interim measures and support.
