Through St. Scholastica's music major and minor, students are prepared for careers in education, the arts, and business and entertainment. The program integrates the Benedictine tradition, in which music helps students balance intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual development; build community, share hospitality, value diversity and nurture a love for life-long learning.

With four concentrations of music study from which to choose, program graduates have many career opportunities available. CSS students have become music teachers at public schools in Minnesota and beyond; music studio and store owners; professional performers, church musicians, and symphony orchestra managers. Other alumni have gone on to graduate school as performers, educators, or music history or theory scholars at universities such as Yale University, Indiana University and Washington University in St. Louis. CSS music alumni also serve as faculty at Ohio State University, Viterbo College and Truman State University.
To serve students of all levels of interest and skill by enabling them to experience and express themselves through music and, in so doing, to exemplify Benedictine ideals of academic excellence, cultural development, personal integrity, and community service.
The B.A. degrees in Music and Music Education are offered in a traditional, on-campus format at our main Duluth campus. A minor in music is also available.
