St. Scholastica Theatre's production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" opens Friday, Nov. 6, in the St. Scholastica Theatre building behind Tower Hall on campus.
Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, and 21, and at 2 p.m. Nov. 8, 15 and 22. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. For more, visit spotlight.css.edu, St. Scholastica's one-stop shop for arts and lectures information and tickets.
The show is a musical inspired by the beloved "Peanuts" comic strip by Minnesota artist Charles Schulz. Book, music and lyrics are by Clark Gesner.
It features all of the "Peanuts" characters as they share in an average day in the life of Charlie Brown. The production will be directed by Merry Renn Vaughan, director of the St. Scholastica Theatre program and chair of the Communication, Theatre and Art department.
This marks Vaughan's second time directing "Charlie Brown."
"I directed this show about 13 years ago, and now I'm doing it again with the same musical director, Sharon Dixon Obst," Vaughan said. She encourages musical theatre fans to attend the production, since St. Scholastica only performs musicals every three or four years.
"Charlie Brown" opens on the same day as the new "Peanuts" movie, and the musical will be packed with action onstage as Charlie Brown flies a kite, Sally jumps rope, and Snoopy flies his Sopwith Camel as a World War I flying ace.
