Music education majors are required to complete student teaching. For other music majors, internships are optional. Some music majors teach pre-college students in the St. Scholastica Music Preparatory Department. Others have interned in music stores and symphonies.
With four concentrations of music study from which to choose, program graduates have many career opportunities available. CSS students have become music teachers at public schools in Minnesota and beyond; music studio and store owners; professional performers, church musicians, and symphony orchestra managers. Other alumni have gone on to graduate school as performers, educators, or music history or theory scholars at universities such as Yale University, Indiana University and Washington University in St. Louis. CSS music alumni also serve as faculty at Ohio State University, Viterbo College and Truman State University.

"Every day I use the solid foundation that my education at St. Scholastica gave me...I continue to find the greatest enjoyment and satisfaction in teaching students of all skill levels, performing at events, and continuing to build the Event Entertainment Agency I started when I was attending CSS."
