Elevator Emergency

If you are trapped in an elevator:

1. Use the elevator emergency telephone to communicate to the campus operator of your emergency.

2. Give the campus operator the location of the elevator and the floor number if known.

3. Remain calm and try to calm others.

4. Do not try to force open the elevator door.

5. Do not try to exit the elevator through the service hatch.

If you are notified that someone is trapped in an elevator:

• Contact campus security immediately at telephone extension 6175 and provide them with the location of the elevator and the floor number if known.

• Talk to the occupants and try to calm them if needed.Advise them that help is on the way.

• Do not try to force open the elevator door.
