Captain's Information

All participants must read the liability statement below. A captain must pass this information on to his/her team. All intramural participants will sign this waiver prior to playing. 

Participation in the Intramural Sports program is voluntary. The College of St. Scholastica is not responsible for injuries incurred while participating in activities or using equipment and facilities provided by our department. Each participant should carry his/her own health and accident insurance. By participating in intramural activity, participants are accepting this statement. If they do not accept the statement they should not participate in our program.

Sports Rules are available online, remember you are responsible to know the rules and pass them on to your team.

During league play all players must show up early and present their valid CSS ID to the Intramural Staff. If enough players are not present by game time your contest will be forfeited and your team will pay the consequence.

 

Forfeit Policy
Don't do it!!!! Teams will be penalized a $25 forfeit fee for not having enough players by game time. If a team forfeits, the captain is responsible for paying hte $25 forfeit fee to the Intramural Sports Coordinator office, BWC 205, within 3 business days of the forfeit. This fee allows the team to get back on the schedule to remain competing for the Intramural Championship. A second forfeit will drop teh team from the league automatically. Teams that know they will not have enough players for a game are required to contact their sport supervisor 24 hours prior to the scheduled contest in order to give our IM staff enough time to contact your opponents and the officials. This 24 hour notification will be counted as a default. 2 defaults = 1 forfeit. Be respectful of others and notify us in advance if you will not be able to play!

Know when you play! League schedules will be posted on IMLeagues.com/CSS and the Intramural Sports bulletin boards in the BWC.

Free Agents

In most leagues, free agents are able to register wtih FREE AGENT status if they are wishing to play in a league or tournament but do not have a team of their own. Free agents names are available to Team Captains in IMLeagues, but captain's are not required to add anyone to their team if they do not wish to. We strongly encourage teams with low numbers to pick up free agents to help fill their roster. For free agents, this is their only chance at playing in the league. In IMLeagues, captains may choose to select "Looking For Players" status if they are needing more players. Individuals who are Free Agents, can click on this team's "Looking For Players" link to request to join the team. The captain of that team will make the decision to add that player if needed.

Sportsmanship and Eligibility of all Participants (i.e. Varsity Athletes)

1. A registered CSS student, faculty/staff are allowed to compete in the Intramural Sports program.
2. A player is considered a legal member of an intramural sports team for which he/she first plays. Players are not allowed to play for more than one team.
3. A maximum of two (2) current varsity/club athletes are allowed to play on one intramural sports team in their respective sport as long as the intramural sport does NOT coincide at the same time as the varsity sport. If the intramural season is still running, and the varsity sport season has ended, that varsity athlete may participate in the same intramural sport as long as they follow all other eligibility rules and have played in at least one game prior to playoffs. In Co-Rec leagues, a maximum of 2 varsity/club athletes is allowed total - not 2 men and 2 women.
4. An athlete that gets cut from the varsity/club team may play in their respective sport, as long as they do not continue to practice with the varsity team.
5. A player whose intramural sports team has been eliminated from further competition for any reason is ineligible to participate for another Intramural Sports team. If, however, a team drops before its first scheduled game or forfeits its first game then drops out of competition, the players on that team may participate for another team if they are added to the roster properly.
6. Any player who is found ineligible in the above clauses may cause his/her team to forfeit each intramural sports game in which he/she participates illegally.
7. A player who misrepresents him/herself may be declared to have been ineligible to participate in that game. The team involved will forfeit the game and the player will be banned from further competition in that respective sport for the remainder of that season. If a member of the team knowingly permitted such representation, the entire team shall face expulsion from that intramural sport for the remainder of that season.
