Advisement Resources for Faculty
Faculty News Alert:
For issues or questions, please call David at 6179 or Melissa at 6747.

On behalf of the Academic Advisement Office, we would like to support you in your work with advisement. We encourage Intrusive and Developmental Advisement, which means that we seek to be active participants in the academic journey, both success and failures, of each of our student advisees. Intrusive Advisement consists of:
-
Intervention when students fall below academic standards
-
Active Involvement with student's four year pursuit of major
-
Motivating students to learn about self identity and the responsibilities which college brings
To be an intrusive advisor, you should:
- Meet with your advisee(s) regularly Visit with them about grades, academic goals, and professional pursuits
- Set goals each advising appointment
- Reflect with your advisee about their journey as a college student
- If academic concerns arise, meet with your advisee to discuss the problem/issue
If personal issues are contributing to the academic concerns, refer them to The Student Center for Health and Well Being (SCHAWB)
If you have academic concerns with a student, please take the following action:
- Contact student(s) to discuss mid-term grades or progress reports
- Follow up with instructors
