Psychology Department
Consent Form
I, Erin Terrio, am an undergraduate student in Dr. Karen Petersen's Empirical Research course at The College of St. Scholastica. I would like to request your participation in my research project, but you are under no obligation to participate. If you do not choose to participate, please do not click "I agree to continue" on this consent form. If you wish to exit the survey once started, please click "Exit survey" at the bottom of this page, as this will bring up information, such as where to find the consent form if needed.
The task you will be asked to do involves completing two surveys: A survey that will present characteristics that may or may not apply to you and whether you agree or disagree with them, which includes 44 items, and a brief questionnaire about demographics (e.g., age, major, and employment status). This will take approximately 15 minutes of your time.
Although not everything about the research project can be explained to you ahead of time, there are no physical risks involved. Psychological risks include answering questions about your grade point average, which may cause stress or discomfort. I will protect your identity; only group data will be presented in my report.
You may discontinue participation at any time. I will not be able to tell you about your individual results. If you are curious to see the overall results at the completion of the study, the summary will be posted online under the "Student Research Projects" link on the College of St. Scholastica Psychology Department webpage, http://www.css.edu/Academics/School-of-Sciences/Psychology-and-Sociology.html . You may also revisit the consent form for this project at any time on the same link. If you have any questions or concerns about this research project please talk with Dr. Karen Petersen, (723-6031) or DRB chair Dr. Angela Hauger, (723-6148).
Thank you for your participation.
Sincerely,
Erin Terrio
