Theology and Religious Studies provides opportunities for students to gain a critical appreciation for faith and religion.  In order to meet the needs of a diverse student body, the Department offers a broad curriculum that includes courses in theology, biblical studies, ethics/moral theology, religions and culture, spirituality and world religions. The Department offers majors and minors in Theology and Religious Studies.

The College also offers a major and minor in Catholic Studies. The Braegelman Program in Catholic Studies is designed for students interested in deepening their knowledge of Catholicism's rich tradition and its interaction with culture. Program Outcomes

Students who complete the major in Theology and Religious Studies will demonstrate:

  • Basic knowledge in the areas of systematic foundational theology, biblical studies, moral theology, and world religions.
  • Effective use of theological resources.
  • Theological reflection by engaging spiritual and religious traditions with human experience.
  • Ability to participate in religious and theological dialogue.
  • Skills for ethical reflection and decision making and action in both their personal ethical lives and in the area of social ethics and justice
  • Ability to read, write about and discuss religious topics.

Program Admission Requirements

  • Junior level academic standing
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7 (on a 4.0 scale)

Retention Requirements

  • Minimum grade of C (2.0) in each major course
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7 (on a 4.0 scale) Theology and Religious Studies (40 semester credits)

Formats and Locations

The B.A. Theology & Religious Studies is offered in a traditional, on-campus format at our main Duluth campus.
