Heather Bastian

Heather is an Assistant Professor of English. She graduated from Lafayette College with a B.A. in English and from the University of Kansas with a M.A. in Language, Literature, and Composition and with a Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric. Her academic interests include rhetorical genre theory, composition pedagogy, and writing programs, and she has published essays in these areas. Her most recent project examines and advances the role of innovation within the composition classroom.
She teaches a wide variety of writing courses, including first-year composition, management writing, and advanced writing, as well as introductory literature courses. Most of her free time is consumed by her adoring yet demanding dog, but when she can spare a minute, she enjoys exploring the beauty of the outdoors or reveling in vampire fiction.
