Physician Assistant Master's Program
St. Scholastica begins work on a Physician Assistant Master's Program
The College's Board of Trustees has approved the development of a Physician Assistant (PA) Master's Program. The development plan is to be ready to accept students in 2016 pending all accreditation processes and approvals. St. Scholastica will seek provisional accreditation through the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). In the event that ARC-PA does not award provisional accreditation, students will not be accepted into the program for a 2016 start.
Why are we introducing a Physician Assistant program?
St. Scholastica has a well-regarded portfolio of professional-level health education programs, including Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, Health Informatics Information Management, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Social Work. The College's School of Nursing offers one of the state's largest nursing programs, including bachelor's to doctoral degrees. A Physician Assistant program builds on our strengths in these areas.
A Physician Assistant program also advances the College's commitment to the health care needs of rural areas in Minnesota and neighboring states. As health care costs continue to rise, the demand for non-physician health care providers increases as well. This program allows us to meet the growing need for Physician Assistants.
Don't have a bachelor's degree?
If you're interested in the Physician Assistant Master's Program at St. Scholastica and don't yet have a bachelor's degree, now's the time to get started. St. Scholastica offers a Pre-Physician Assistant program that will meet all prerequisites for our proposed Master's program.
