ePortfolios are increasing in popularity at The College of St. Scholastica and, as of Falll 2010, the College has adopted the fee-based Chalk and Wire ePortfolio System.
Chalk and Wire is currently being used by Athletic Training, Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM), Social Work, and the School of Education's Graduate Teaching Licensure (GTL) Program.
Students pay a fee for this subscription, but - once purchased - they can use the ePortfolio system to generate as many portfolios as they wish. The students control who has access to the material posted in the electronic portfolio, but the specific programs that require these portfolios will provide templates that guide students through the completion of required course activities and documentation.
Please visit the Chalk and Wire Website for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of Chalk and Wire ePortfolios?
Because your portfolio is online, you can view, update, and share it via the Internet. You have access to Chalk & Wire throughout the term of purchase (1, 2, or 3 years), and using your one account - you can generate as many different types of portfolios as you wish. In other words, a student may have one portfolio to demonstrate their competency in completing a field experience, but may also have another one to show prospective employers. Completed portfolioscan be shared with others outside of the Chalk & Wire system, and they can be downloaded to a computer or CD, with a reusable web-based version generated.
How much does Chalk & Wire cost?
If your department decides to implement ePortfolios, Chalk & Wire is the standard ePortfolio product used at St. Scholastica.
There are three subscription terms available:
Accounts may also be renewed on a semester basis:
Academic departments make the decision to adopt the ePortfolio, and students are assessed a fee for the number of years requested. Because the IT department is currently supplementing the cost, students will be assessed approximately 70% of the actual fee.
For students, this means that they will be charged:
