The College of St. Scholastica choral groups Concert Choir, Bella Voce and Women's Choir will present their spring concert, "Sing Me to Heaven" at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in the Mitchell Auditorium. (Note: Earlier marketing materials may have noted the concert to start in the evening, rather than its actual time at 3 p.m.) This event will also mark the inaugural concert of the St. Scholastica Vocal Jazz Ensemble. The concert is $5 and is open to the public.
The choirs are under the direction of Bret Amundson, director of choral activities and music education at St. Scholastica.
"The choral pieces will include a variety of choral works," noted Amundson. "They include Monteverdi, Palestrina, Victoria, Barnum, Szymko and Brummer."
The vocal jazz ensemble will sing jazz and pop selections.
Guest artists include Jeremy Craycraft and Chris Belich on percussion; Aleksander Tengesdal, cello; Eric Hagmann, piano; John Zimmermann, bass and Alex Quiring, vocal percussion.
